On Monday, 8th October, the Inner West Symphony Orchestra (IWSO) celebrated a huge milestone, our first birthday! With cake, bubbly, and a room full of music lovers, we took a moment to reflect on our journey, the music we’ve made, and the community that’s grown with us over the past year. It was a celebration of sound, spirit, and solidarity in the west.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see what we’ve accomplished in just 12 months. It all started with a casual “meet and greet” back in October 2023, where our initial group of musicians and supporters gathered to explore the idea of forming a local orchestra. By December, we were hosting a soft launch for family and friends, setting the stage for something we couldn’t wait to share with the wider community.
2024 has truly brought IWSO to life, with two concerts that turned Williamstown Town Hall into a hub of excitement and music. Our Emergence concert, a celebration of beginnings, drew a crowd that was as enthusiastic as we were, eager to support live music and local talent. Odyssey, our second concert, took the audience on an immersive musical journey, adding depth and diversity to our performances and inspiring even more local engagement. Each performance was met with incredible feedback, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us, cheered us on, and became part of the IWSO family.
And we’re not stopping there! Mark your calendars for November, when we close out the 2024 season with our third and final concert, Love, Death & Destiny. This concert will explore themes that touch every aspect of the human experience, promising a night of music that’s as powerful and moving as it is beautifully crafted. We’re thrilled to bring this program to life and can’t wait to see our community there to share in the experience.
