DESCRIPTION:The musicians of the Inner West Symphony Orchestra invite you to share in an evocative program of love\, death and destiny in the third and final presentation of our debut season. \nExperience the emotional turbulence of Prokofiev’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’\, be transported through Mussorgsky’s harrowing ‘Night on Bald Mountain’ and feel the power and allure of two breathtaking overtures: Verdi’s ‘La Forza Del Destino’ and Offenbach’s ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’. \nMusically directed by Andrew Leach and Michael Potts\, the orchestra will also premiere the work of one of our very own young composers and violinists\, Sabrina Yousif. \nJoin us for an afternoon of musical inspiration and excellence at 2pm\, Sunday 24 November at the Williamstown Town Hall\, Ferguson Street\, Williamstown. \nFull-colour programs will be available for sale on the day. DESCRIPTION:The Inner West Symphony Orchestra (IWSO) invites you to an afternoon of music\, storytelling and a bit of the unexpected. \nDukas’ rousing brass ‘La Peri Fanfare’ will open the show\, leading us into Brahms’ boisterous ‘Academic Festival Overture’. \nFrom there we’ll take you on a tour of the orchestra through two classics: Prokofiev’s ‘Peter & the Wolf’\, a timeless favourite and a masterclass in how music can tell a story\, and Britten’s ‘Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra’\, which explores each section of the orchestra through lively variations. \nYou’ll have to strap yourselves in for our grand finale\, as we will be bringing you the ‘Super Mario Galaxy Symphonic Suite’\, a full orchestral tribute to this iconic gaming soundtrack. \nWe’re also thrilled to be performing Handel’s ‘La Rejouissance’ with special guests\, musicians from Footscray City Primary School! \nJoin us on Sunday\, 27 April at Williamstown Town Hall. DESCRIPTION:Step into Les années folles as the Inner West Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026 season with an afternoon of music capturing the creative energy of Paris during the ‘crazy years’. \nLili Boulanger’s masterwork of French impressionism\, D’un Matin de Printemps\, will begin the program\, setting the scene for George Gershwin’s sentimental tribute to Parisian life\, An American in Paris\, featuring his trademark jazz influences. \nThen\, the fantastical tale of Zoltan Kodály’s folk-inspired Hary János Suite\, which will feature a Chinese yangqin playing a part originally written for the cimbalom\, a rare Hungarian dulcimer. \nAnd how else to finish a celebration of the Roaring 20s than with Maurice Ravel’s hypnotic orchestral masterpiece Boléro\, an enduring audience favourite since its raucous Parisian premiere in 1928! \n  \nFeaturing \nInner West Symphony Orchestra \nAndrew Leach conductor \nAndrew Derrett conductor \nBingyao Liu yangqin \n  \nDoors open at 1:30 pm.
