Inner West Symphony Orchestra presents BOLERO

Step into Les années folles as the Inner West Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026 season with an afternoon of music capturing the creative energy of Paris during the ‘crazy years’.
Lili Boulanger’s masterwork of French impressionism, D’un Matin de Printemps, will begin the program, setting the scene for George Gershwin’s sentimental tribute to Parisian life, An American in Paris, featuring his trademark jazz influences.
Then, the fantastical tale of Zoltan Kodály’s folk-inspired Hary János Suite, which will feature a Chinese yangqin playing a part originally written for the cimbalom, a rare Hungarian dulcimer.
And how else to finish a celebration of the Roaring 20s than with Maurice Ravel’s hypnotic orchestral masterpiece Boléro, an enduring audience favourite since its raucous Parisian premiere in 1928!
