We’re very pleased to share that on 10 October 2025, the Inner West Symphony Orchestra was selected as a recipient of the Melbourne Airport Community Giving Fund. This support is already making a real difference for us and the communities we serve.
Thanks to the fund, we have been able to acquire new percussion instruments for our upcoming concert, which will allow us to perform the music as the composers intended. It will also create opportunities for future programs, giving us the chance to explore pieces we otherwise couldn’t and to share them with audiences across Melbourne’s west. For a not-for-profit organisation like ours, support like this doesn’t just help cover costs; it lifts the quality of what we do and strengthens our ability to bring live music to our community.
We were delighted to welcome Meera Hamed, Community Engagement Coordinator for Melbourne Airport, to one of our Monday rehearsals recently to share the news in person. It was lovely for our orchestra members to hear directly from Meera about this support, and we truly appreciated the time she took to visit and celebrate with us.
Funds like this make a huge difference to organisations like ours. They help us grow, reach new audiences, and keep sharing live music across Melbourne’s west. We’re looking forward to putting our new instruments to use at our upcoming concert, Symphonic Dances, on 29 November, and to continuing to make music together with our community.
